An Abundance of Happiness
Spring has sprung and I don't know if there is anything better than spring in North Carolina! the last few weeks have been busy but oh so much fun. To start with there was a great weekend trip to Sapphire NC for the Carolina Fiber Frolic. This was my first year but I will be a regular from now on. It is a small intimate gathering of fiber folk. Laid back, fun and educational all at the same time. I took a drum carding class with Kristen Nicholas and loved it. I made five batts even though I had never seen a drum carder in real life before. The retreat was full of spinners, newbies like me and experts with 13 years of spinning behind them. What was so remarkable was how easily we came together and got to know each other through our common love of knitting, spinning and felting. My friends Roxie and Susan came and it was so good to hang out with them, even though they kept me up past my bedtime!
The next weekend was a fabulous weekend in the mountains with our children and their awesome spouses. Next up was a two and a half day spinning class at Arrowmont. Amazing to be in a group of one hundred or so people totally absorbed in their passion, whether it be weaving, spinning, knitting, dyeing or felting. I got to know my fellow guild members as we shared a house for the three days. My class Spinning Spectacular Knitting Yarns was amazing. I am prepared now to spin for my first sweater. See my swatch. This is Three Waters Farm BFL and is gorgeous to spin.
What is floating your boat these days?
