SAFF

I attended SAFF with dear friends Roxie and Susan.  We had a wonderful weekend.  The organizers do a good job of making sure SAFF gets better every year!

Next year, I hope to enter the skein and garment competition.

I volunteered at the wool show and learned so much.

I also bought a 6.5 pound Corriedale fleece.

                                                      There were some adorable alpacas.

                                                                 Some beautiful sheep.

                                                              Not to mention the goats.

                                                                   Here are my purchases.

                                                                         Until next year....

Wrapping Up , Literally

Tonight I washed, dried and wrapped up my baby gifts for Emily and Ryan's shower tomorrow.

This is a baby quilt and coordinating baby blanket.  Quick photo taken between rainy moments.
The last two weeks have been crazy!  Surviving the threat of furlough and strep throat, celebrating dear daughter's birthday with a camping trip and this weekend the balloon festival.

Thursday, we leave for SAFF! My favorite thing!

Shenandoah Fiber Festival haul

Not a great picture but, this includes yellow Clun Forest fiber and brown Icelandic fiber from Solitude Wool.  There is also a beautiful niddy noddy for sampling and some nubby sock yarn.
Not pictured in this group is my favorite purchase.
This is one ounce of merino, alpaca and copper Angelina.  Which spun up into this...

This is 84 yards of a two ply fingering weight.  I really wish I could get more!

These are some very nice boy scouts making delicious cobbler.  They had cherry, peach and apple cobbler baked in the large black cooker behind them.  I had the peach, warm with vanilla ice cream.  Yum!

I did not buy this bunny named Brooks but was sorely tempted!

Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival

I talked my dear husband into traveling to Berryville, Virginia for the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival.  We left Statesville at 7 am and arrived at 12:30 pm.  It was a beautiful drive through the Shenandoah Valley and the festival was great fun.  It was smaller than SAFF but had all the required elements; fiber animals, yarn, fiber, pottery, woodworkers and good food.

This is Eli, the emu.  Technically not a fiber animal but cute.
This is Ichabod, a Jacob ram who escaped the night before the festival and had a run in with security.

A judge inspects locks at a cashmere competition.

These are the cashmere goats, all lined up for judging.

This is Junior, a Bactrian camel.  I fell in love with him!

Next post, I will show you my purchases and rave about the boy scouts and cobbler!
