NaBloPoMo

After reading a friend's blog, I've just signed up for NaBloPoMo. It sure will be a challenge to post everyday and make it interesting enough to read. My friend is a writer which I do not aspire to be. This will be more of an exercise in consistency for me!

The Little Professor Sweater

Quick knit baby sweater for aa co-worker who has a little boy due in October.  The pattern is Baby Sophisticate, a free pattern on Ravelry.  It is very well written and used just one skein of Berroco Vintage.  I also did some weaving this weekend and finished the Hunger Games trilogy.  Altogether a very relaxed weekend.

CH.. CH... Changes

So far 2012 has been a year of change. At the end of 2011, my mother-in-law who had lived with us for eight years moved to Florida. Last month our parrots, which we had had for over twelve years went to live in a wonderful bird sanctuary. This month dear husband's job was eliminated. We wanted to simplify our lives and now is the time. We are on a new trajectory, I don't know where we are headed but have faith it is the right road for us. There has been some knitting, my Wurm hat and a baby ensemble. Also some stash enhancement. My wonderful daughter and equally wonderful daughter-in-law went with me to see New York city. It was my first visit and they were excellent tour guides and travel companions. It was overwhelming. I saw everything I wanted to see. Especially loved the Golden Buddha in Chinatown and Cafe Roma in Little Italy. I visited Gotta Knit, M and J Trimming and my favorite Habu Textiles which was literally a block from our hotel. I made a modest purchase at Habu and was enchanted by the store. I am currently cranking out six Spa cloths to give our support staff dor Administrative Professionals Day which is April 23, 2012.

March Madness Gets Ugly

After alot of trash talking about college basketball at work we had an escalation in the workplace harrassment. My co-worker who has the office next door is a UNC graduate and has the ugly Tarheel stuff all over her office. When she was out of the office I "borrowed" her Ram and made him a Duke shirt. It took her a few days to notice but when she did she was not pleased. The next day I came in to find my door decorated in Tarheel style. That was painful for this Duke fan. The third picture is the memorial my co-workers erected outside my office door when Duke lost. It is hard to see in the picture but the little black box is a coffin with a Duke logo in it. There was music and a guest sign in book. Apparently Oprah and RuPaul came by but I missed them. I am trying to think of an appropriate payback! War is HELL!

Old knitter learns new trick

I love knitting socks but have always done the top down construction. For years I have wanted to challenge myself to try toe up. Finally did it. Mastered Judy's Magic Cast On and am moving along. I am going to Soxperience in April in Chincoteague and will be taking classes with Wendy Johnson. She has written two books on toe-up socks. I am ridiculously excited to be spending the weekend in this beautiful place with DH and taking sock knitting classes.

Falling Hard

Oh my goodness! I have fallen in love! I bought these Signature dpns from a fellow raveler to try them. Fiday night I did the above little swatch and by Saturday was doing a major destash to fund more dpns. The Stilleto (gotta love that name) points are killer sharp and they are made of aircraft grade aluminum. I am not just knitting socks here people...this is some high tech precision *&^@ we got going here! I may never knit anything but socks again!
