Small Luxury #1

I have always wanted to make soap.  With a 50% coupon I bought a small soap making kit at AC Moore for $9.00.  Tonight I made my first batch of Apricot Vanilla Exfoliating bars.  Such fun, it was a melt and pour soap base but a good intro to the process.  Aren't they beautiful?  Tomorrow I am going to go in search of lye for my first cold process soap.  A small luxury  but oh so worth it!  Off to lather up!

What is in them that makes them exfoliating? Was that part of the kit?

Allison, the kit included everything including ground apricot pit to make it exfoliating. Today I bought the lye and will make some real soap tomorrow.

M.J. The soap was fun and a lot faster than knitting! Thanks.

Do you need a well ventilated area to make the cold press soap? Hope, you have more pictures of you playing with the soap making.

That sounds like fun! Have you used it yet? Does the scent stay on your skin? I love pretty smelling soap, but if the scent stays on my skin too long I end up sneezing all day.

Bindu, I am trying the cold process soap tomorrow so I will let you know how it goes. I plan on mixing he lye outside.

Susan, the soap was nice to use, the scent wasn't very long lasting though. I don't think I used enough oil.
